Just to let you know what’s coming up at St. Casimir’s Parish.

Sunday, September 19th, 2010 St. Elizabeth Society

The new season for St. Elizabeth Society begins on Sept. 19th with kavute/light brunch after 12 o’clock Mass, followed by a meeting.  A Mass was ordered that Sunday for the late Nelly Pranskeviciute-Lefebvre, died June 28, 2010 in her 95th year, a member who belonged to the Society longer than anyone else.  There will not be a meeting during the month of October.  Next brunch – Feast of St. Elizabeth, Sunday, November 21st.   Members and friends invited to attend.  Dessert is always appreciated.

Sunday, September 26th, 2010 Grybu Pietus/Annual Mushroom Lunch

The parish committee is organizing the traditional Mushroom Lunch in 2 weeks on Sept. 26th after 12 o’clock Mass.  Tickets: $25 for adults; $15 for students (10 to 16 years old).  As usual, there will be a sweet table and a lottery.  Donations to either or to both would be greatly appreciated.  To reserve a table of 10 please contact:  Alice Skrupskis (514.257.6761), Nijole Sukys (514.593.6859) or John Zienka (514.254.7846).  Our Pastor Paulius Maliska and the parish committee invite you, your family and your friends to attend.

Sunday, November 7th, 2010 Requiem Mass – premiere performance

Musician Alexandre Stankevicius (and choirmaster of our parish choir, of Ausros Vartu Parish Choir and of Montreal Lithuanian Choir) has composed music for 10 Latin hymns, which will be sung during Mass on Sunday, Nov. 7th. A combined Montreal choir (Montrealio lietuviu choras, St. Casimir and Ausros Vartu), as well as Arija Choir from Ottawa, will perform in our church, which has excellent accoustics. There will be 4 soloists, incl. our own Guy Zenaitis.  Anyone interested in joining the combined choir please contact either Alexandre or Daiva Jaugelis-Zatkovic (514.696.9448) (rehearsals Weds. 7 pm Ausros Vartu hall).  Special guests include: Prelatas Edmundas Putrimas of Toronto (will co-celebrate Mass with Fr. Maliska), Fr. Dr. Felix Jucevicius (health permitting), representative of the Lithuania ambassador in Ottawa, honorary Lithuanian consul in Montreal Arunas Staskevicius, President of  Montreal Lithuanian Community Silvija Staskevicius.

The Requiem Mass will be performed close to All Souls Day – day to remember those who have left us from this earth.  In the programme there will be an In Memoriam section where we can all remember our deceased relatives and/or friends.

To help defry some of the costs of producing the programme, etc., the prices for In Memoriam pages are: $10 a line (name(s) of deceased and your name; $25 for size of a business card; $50 a ¼ page; $75 a ½ page; $125 full page.  Advertisements would also be appreciated.

Lunch will follow – $20 for adults; $10 for children aged 10 to 18.  Cash Bar.

Everyone is invited to enjoy this world premiere of Alexandre’s work.  Bring your Lithuanian and non-Lithuanian relatives and friends.
